Some great videos have been released online this week involving Gnomes, iPhones, a Human Newton’s Cradle and a lot of people’s backs. Let us know what you think of the selection in the comment section below.
Dove Real Beauty Sketches Parody
The Dove Real Beauty Sketches video that came out last week went viral very, very quickly. With it’s positive message, beautiful shots and believable narrative holding it all together it’s not hard to see why. So naturally the internet was pretty quick to have some fun with it. This video is our favourite of all the parodies YouTube.
Ikea, Time for a Change
Another advert that has been doing the rounds in TV land is this Gnome based Ikea ad. We love it because it actually looks pretty simple and as a result has a huge amount of charm making it delightful to watch. Loaded with references to action movies but with garden Gnomes and a couple just trying to fix their garden with Ikea wares.
Harrison Ford & the new Star Wars
Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know Disney has bought the rights to the Star Wars films and Episode 7 is due for release in 2015 with JJ Abrams directing. There has also been a lot of speculation about whether the actors from past films will make an appearance so when talk show host Jimmy Kimmel asks Harrison Ford whether he’ll be turning up the results are hilarious. Featuring a excellent cameo from a certain Wookie.
Human Newton’s Cradle
This video has a great concept. How to show off the shock absorption power of these motorcycle helmets made by Shark Helmets. Though as filmmakers ourselves we feel that even though the concept is great the actual execution is somewhat lacking, to much build up and not enough time spent on the reveal, but if you disagree then let us know in the comment section below!
Wingsuit Cave Flight
The mad video captures adrenaline junkie Alexander Polli don on his best wingsuit and fly through a really small mountain cave in Spain. One mistake and he would’ve made a bit of a mess. Has to be seen to be believed.
Back to Camera Supercut
A great and unexpectedly moving video of a supercut of lots of ‘back to camera’ shots in various films. Put together very well with a great choice of music.
Light For 2
A really great silhouetted dance/skate video with some nifty motion graphics thrown in for good measure. Very creative.
We’ve All Been There
A very sweet short film to round everything off now. Here’s the synopsis “Burdened with needing to raise $800 or face eviction from her home, an 8-month pregnant Jess continues to work at the local diner. When an old lady arrives for a late night supper, a connection is made that will impact the two in ways they both could never have imagined.”
