      Surrey County Council Family Animation

Being a support worker, helping disadvantaged children is a rewarding yet challenging and understaffed job. Working alongside Surrey County Council we created an animation with an authentic, reassuring, optimistic and relatable narrative. The aim for this piece was to give a sense of pride to existing employees and cast a vision that attracts new employees to improve children’s education, health and wellbeing.

The underlying thread in this project is literally a thread! It illustrates how we’re all connected, the staff, the children... all of us.

We involved care leavers (someone who has left the care system) throughout the project: One voiced the animation, another on work experience.

Stylistically we were inspired by Quentin Blake; using strong lines with splashes of colour to create visuals that appealed to both children and adults which also complimented us visually communicating the underlying theme.

      What the client said:

I absolutely LOVE Liquona. I have worked with them a few times and they are a fantastic group of people who always deliver. They made our vision come to life in the most beautiful way and I can't thank them enough!

      - Abbey Cortazzi, Communications Account Manager

One of the biggest challenges was finding a voice over artiste who could deliver the narrative with both rhythm and sincerity. We searched long and hard before we found Chérie, herself having been through the care system. She gave us a live reading over the phone which was both authentic and strong. It was obvious she connected with the material and spoke from the heart. We knew instantly she was the perfect voice for the animation.

      Behind the Scenes

The 'BTS' film was produced on a work experience placement with Surrey CC.
